International Lolita Day, or ILD, is an excuse to celebrate
being a lolita! Created by the lolita community back in the dark ages, ILD is
held twice a year on the first Saturday of both June and December. Local lolita
communities usually plan meetups around International Lolita Day, so keep an eye
out in your local community for some in your area! This past Saturday, June 2, was actually my first
ILD that I have celebrated, despite being into lolita for so many years.
This past weekend, I was at A-Kon 23, an anime convention in
Dallas and one of the largest Texas conventions. Along with several costumes, I also brought lolita! There were several lolita
events and panels planned, but unfortunately I could only make one – Saturday’s
Swap and Sell meet. It was so much larger than I expected and I'm glad I went.
Look at all this frill! The swap meet was HUGE! (Photo by Panda, thank you!) |
My simple sax x white x pink coord for ILD. |
I began my day dressed like this.
Outfit rundown:
Wig: Arda Wigs
Cardigan: Target
JSK: Bodyline
Purse: Bodline
Socks: Bodyline
Shoes: Bodyline via Goodwill
I brought a few items to try and get rid of but I was only partially successful. I managed to sell an
older pair of shoes I had, and I picked up a few items. After the swap meet, I also headed to the Artist Alley and found some cute jewelry.

I got a really good deal on all the swap items I got. I am definitely most excited
about the cardigan (see the outfit below) – it is my first brand item! Most of the lolita I have is
offbrand or Bodyline, but this one is by Baby! And it was such an affordable
price, too – thank you, Sarah, for selling it to me! I can't wait to add it to more coordinates in the future.
I was also very pleased to find the Pinkie Pie necklace. The figure is from a blind box series, so it is fairly rare. It's super glittery. I'm in love.
And after the swap meet and a visit to Artist Alley, I wound
up changing my outfit slightly.

And a silly closeup -- you can see my Pinkie necklace! |
Different items:
Small white bow: Bodyline, from a dress I bought!
Cardigan: Baby the Stars Shine Bright
Necklace: Artist Alley vendor
Bracelets: Offbrand
I like this outfit much more! I accidentally forgot to take my
jewelry with me this summer, so I felt like my first outfit was a little too
bland. The second one is more detailed and so much cuter, in my opinion.
I'm sad I wasn't able to make the ice skating meetup later on that evening, but I'm glad I was able to meet lolitas from all around Texas. Overall, I really enjoyed my first ILD!
How did you celebrate International Lolita Day?
It totally looks like you only have one dress. Just sayin' <3 Liz
ReplyDeleteThat's what happens when you make a blog the same week as you get a new cute coordinate. Sigh.
