Starry-Eyed Surprise

I always find myself avoiding outfit posts when I'm wearing jeans. Part of me feels like when I post an outfit, it's a little arrogant. "You should be looking at me! I know what I'm doing!" But in reality, I post my outfits as a personal backlog - to improve, to see changes in myself and my style, and to offer to anyone on the internet interested. (Style blogs were a large part of me realizing it was okay to have an interest in clothes.) 

I think there's some element of being a style blogger that makes me feel like I have to be an expert, but really? I am definitely, definitely not. 

Starry-Eyed Surprise

So here's an outfit with jeans and a shirt, a basic, tried-and-true combination that I have done nothing revolutionary with. And yet, I really dig this outfit. The galaxy shirt (which I thought was a sweater but is actually just a shirt) was calling my name, and what better to wear with it than my starry, silver sequinned hat? Paired with the bright pink lipstick I never know how to wear, I felt like an intergalactic cutie all day.

While I prefer skirts and dresses, jeans are part of my wardrobe, too, even if I always feel somewhat boring when I wear them.

I love seeing what people really wear, sometimes I look at a style post and I think "Yeah, you didn't actually wear that for anything other than these pictures." So definite props for being able to post something cute but realistic, I love it.

I feel the same way! I remember a blogger saying she'd do all her outfit posts for the week in one day, and I was like... wait, not all bloggers actually wear what they post? And some people wear heels in the photos but not in real life. I dig bloggers because they are more real than magazines, not because they are walking magazine editorials!

At the same time it always feels a little anticlimactic posting something that seems really typical. It's a hard balance.

It's so obnoxious. I never know how to wear it but it makes me super happy! I was pleased when it photographed just as bright as it is in person.

It was an eye-opening experience when I realized a lot of the big time style bloggers don't even wear the stuff they post as their "everyday" clothes and their real style is completely different. Really put me off to certain bloggers I had been following for years. It's so much more genuine and real when a style blogger shows off her style, no matter what, because it can still provide some great inspiration for others! And, it's a great way to check out new stores/brands from what the blogger is wearing. :P

I totally agree. It's one thing if they are styling stuff from a sponsor or whatever, but it's totally different if they don't even wear it at all. It's a little heartbreaking! I expect blogs to be real, not like virtual lookbooks.

Galaxy loveeee!! So pretty. I love the bright pink lips too :D

I used to wear jeans everyday for years and blogging helped me branch out. I recently bought some new ones and I think I may revert to my old ways LOL

You look sensational! I love seeing more casual outfits on blogs, because I feel it gives a more rounded insight into the way people really dress. Sure, there are some people who dress up every single day, but a lot of us don't. You're totally rocking this look and I just adore it.

Aww thank you so much! I totally agree! I wish some of the bloggers who don't think their outfits are "blog worthy" would post them anyway. I bet they can make even super causal outfits look exciting!

As much as I appreciate bloggers decked out for inspiration, realistically, it's not what I wear all the time. Sometimes I think I don't post many outfits of my own because I feel the same way - jeans, meh, nothing special. But hey, it's REALISTIC - it's what I wear and it's fashion just as much. I love the galaxy print (and might totally have to hit up my Target now!)
