In my time online, I've connected with some amazing, impressive geek girls across the country - and even across the globe. One of the best ways to make friends online is through finding communities of like-minded individuals - and there are tons of awesome geek girl communities! Listed below are a few of my personal favorites, but I'm there are many, many more out there. Whether you love American comics or your passion is historical costuming, get out there and find your tribe!
1. International Geek Girl Pen Pal Club
The International Geek Girl Pen Pal Club (or IGGPPC for short) is a community that expands online and offline. Sign up to be matched with a pen pal who has similar interests to you and send snail mail back and forth. Or, connect online through social media, virtual events like an online camp or Halloween movie-watch-along, and activities like a IGGPPC fitness club or cooking club.
2. Female Geek Bloggers
If you're a lady geek blogger and you're not in the #FGBloggers group yet, get on it! The geek girl blogosphere is bigger than it seems, and there are lots of great connections to be made. Asking for advice, getting to know each other through Twitter chats and Google hangouts, swapping blog tips... it's all a lot easier when you are in the same niche!
3. Geek Girl Brunch
Geek Girl Brunch combines two of my most favorite things in the world - geeky women and breakfast foods. With a chapter in NYC and plans for expansion in the next few months, keep your eyes peeled for a geek girl brunch in your area! And by the way -- I'm an officer for the upcoming Austin Geek Girl Brunch chapter.
4. Black Girl Nerds
Black Girl Nerds aims to "represent a wide array of diverse women who embrace all cultures and refuse to conform to the status quo." Black Girl Nerds is one of my favorite Twitter accounts, full of news, community commentary on geek culture issues, and tweet-a-longs to shows and movies from American Horror Story to Jem. The blog itself has a variety of topics. Whether you want to read about the top 10 black female cartoon characters or the latest comic book review, the blog site is bound to have something for you!

I think my biggest problem, is finding geek girls who are as obsessed as I am about stuff (outside of Jen, of course! Luckily we obsess over the same stuff.) ^_^; Like in-depth talking about various anime, making manga, etc.
I will find obsessive otaku girls, I will!
