Announcing: Superheroesque!

Today is February 13, and you know what that means - it's Galentine's Day! (Also my mom's birthday... happy birthday mom!)

For the past year or so, my friend Liz and I have had this vision of a new web project - we wanted to build a safe community where we can talk about self-love and self-improvement in a geeky context. It's been a wild ride getting this project together, and I'm absolutely thrilled to be able to announce that the site is live! The first post is up and we'll be bringing you new content regularly.

"Our mission is to encourage every geek to become their own

superhero through a happy community of self-love and pop culture."

Please check out the articles and videos currently up, and consider subscribing, joining our G+ community, or following along with social media. We're also looking for contributors! If you have something you want to say, consider submitting it to the site.

Wow, what do you mean I'm going to have to join a G+ community? This is NEW and SCARY. *joins anyway*

PS I've been kicking around a post like the first one you wrote for the Superheroesque site for MONTHS. Not about geekiness, but about the whole 'real' adjective that people throw around when what they really mean is "you don't fit my standards for [noun] and that's scary and shakes my worldview and possibly means I'm not a special snowflake myself so you are not [noun]!" Sigh.

Originally the post was a lot more, uh, ranty, but I wanted it to be a little more lighthearted. I've talked at length about why there is no such thing as a "real" or "fake" geek, so I thought a tongue-in-cheek guide would be a little sillier :P
